I want you to get the care you deserve.

Transforming mental healthcare

I am a psychotherapist candidate who primarily works with patient’s face-to-face. However, I understand that finding a formally-trained psychodynamic therapist regionally and interstate can be difficult. As such, I offer online sessions for anyone who lives outside of the Greater Brisbane area.

A modern approach

Psychodynamic therapy is a form of therapy with a holistic focus on the perspective of the patient. The alternative, “problem-based” therapies, such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), solution focused therapies (SFT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) etc, aim to reduce or eliminate symptoms instead of exploring the patient’s deep-seated needs, urges, and desires (McLeod, 2014). This translates into significant differences between these therapies in terms of goals, techniques, and general approach. Psychodynamic therapy promotes deeper and lasting change as it explores the why, not just the what.

Hello, my name is Kristy. During my life I have had extensive and varied life experiences, giving me a practical, well-rounded, and open-minded view of the world and people's interactions within it. In our fast-paced lives, often we meet the needs of so many around us, leaving little room to find the space for ourselves. Our appointments together are regular so you know with certainty that you will be afforded the time to decompress and fully explore your experiences in order to unpack all that is troubling you. I can help you to make sense of life that can at times feel difficult, dull, chaotic, confusing, and troubling. We work together to help you find your true inner-self, one that is more calm, confident, and able to express your authentic being. I work from a model of psychodynamic psychotherapy called The Conversational Model. This model has a long-established and extensive research base making it one of the best validated of all contemporary psychotherapies. I have substantial experience across various roles in working with people of many cultures and those from the LGTBQI+ community.
